Occupied Balochistan: Around fifty families, including women and children, belonging to Baloch enforced-disappeared person staged a noisy protest sit-in under scorching sun outside the Commissioner Office on Anscomb Road, Quetta, on Thursday demanding safe and immediate recovery of their loved ones who have been taken hostage for years.

They strongly criticized Supreme Court for not paying any heed to their grave problem and chanted full-throat slogans against Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and Rehman Malik whom, according to relatives, are using dirty tactics in side tracking this humanitarian issue.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Paramilitary forced (FC) and Military Intelligence (MI) are involved in extra judicial killings and abduction of Baloch activists. The FC, however, takes direct orders from federal interior ministry which is headed by Rehman Malik. Balochwarna has highlight is point earlier as well and we again emphasis that Rehman Malik is directly involved in kidnappings and in-custody killings of Baloch political activists.

The procession was started from Quetta Press Club and their relatives wanted to hold meeting with Governor Balochistan in order to apprise him about the real situation. However, the heavy contingents of police accompanied by their female constables stopped them near the main intersection in front of Commissioner Quetta Office on Anscomb Road by erecting barricade and sealing the roads leading towards to Governor House.

Despite, the several warnings to call off the protest rally, the women, children and old men continued their protest and staged a sit-in. They kept on shouting slogans condemning the killing in custody and accused the Government functionaries for it.

“We have evidence and complete documents and data of about 1300 missing persons and wanted to produce it before the Governor Balochistan in order to prove that Mr. Rehman Malik had been telling lies and misleading the world public opinion since very first day that there are merely 40 persons are missing or sometime say the missing persons are aboard,” said Nasurallah Baloch, the Chairman Voice for Baloch missing persons, an organization striving for the recovery of missing persons. “These women have been protesting for years with no avail. The Chief Justice had transferred our cases to Bench-2 which reflects his criminal intention to save the culprits responsible for kidnapping and killing the missing people. Now we do not have any expectations from government and its institutions since they themselves are involved in these illegal detentions and extra-judicial killings.”

The protestors were carrying photographs of their loved ones mentioning the date and place during which they were picked up. “My brother Saeedur Rehman was whisked away by security personnel on July 7th, 2008 by security personnel. Since then he is missing. I only demand to produce him before the court of the law,” a woman said while addressing the sit-in. Sister of missing Gohar Baloch also held government functionaries responsible for kidnapping. She said Gohar was kidnapped on February 15, 2011. “The bodies are being dumped almost daily and I fear one day I will receive the mutilated body of my brother,” she added. The women chanted slogans against government and its functionaries alleging that they are behind the kidnapping and killing of Baloch political opponents. One of the speakers claimed that the Balochistan Government and its leaders are equally responsible for the crime against humanity. According to VBMP, as many as 178 dead bodies of Baloch missing persons have so far been found dumped different parts of Balochistan and all the victims had affiliation with nationalist parties and student organizations. They said the judicial commissions were formed to suppress the issue as the responsible for the kidnappings are also included in the commission.
